Green (Inca) jay

 birds - Green (Inca) jay

These jays were very common around the lodge grounds. I had seen many of them before breakfast (when it was still raining) but had not been able to get a clear photo. Luckily for me this solitary individual appeared behind the lounge area over the lunch period and stopped very close to the balcony. In spite of the conditions I was able to get a good photo. Apparently the inca jay has recently been split from the green jay scientifically. They are always different in appearance but were previously considered to be the same species.
